Anchored Yet Free: A Turbo Thinker's© Guide to Letting Go
What can't we let go of? What ties us down? A recent yoga class got me thinking about belief systems and our Turbo Thinking© brains. This reflection coincided with a week of natural disasters worldwide — wildfires, hurricanes, and floods — triggering my own Katrina trauma. Yet, the yoga practice gave me hope.
In a hurricane evacuation, we must choose what to take with us. What do we always carry? What physical objects do we deem essential? Before we evacuate, we also protect the property we leave behind — anchoring furniture and tying down limbs. But what about our minds? What pulls at us when the winds of change blow? What ties us down, preventing us from soaring even when flight might be the best option?
As Turbo Thinkers©, we often grapple with letting go. Is it a limiting belief? An excuse? Could we experiment with releasing our grip? Or perhaps try anchoring to something new? What might that feel like? Can we explore that sensation?
For those of us who are executives with ADHD, this concept of letting go while staying anchored can be particularly relevant. What if we let go of the belief that we must personally oversee every detail and instead anchor to the idea of effective delegation and team empowerment? How might this shift transform our leadership and our company's productivity?
Sometimes, we might feel like we're blowing in the wind. What do we grasp onto? Is it something we truly need, or does it stem from fear or resistance? What can we let go of so that we're still held, while releasing what no longer serves us?
As Turbo Thinkers©, we might find ourselves starting multiple projects simultaneously, driven by our creativity. But what if we released this habit and anchored instead to a system of prioritization and focused execution? How might this change improve our effectiveness and reduce stress?
Our Turbo Thinking© brains thrive on meaningful connections — our vitamin C. How can we choose connections that serve us while letting go of the rest? Can we be both flexible and resilient, yet grounded, without hurting ourselves by clinging to what doesn't serve us?
As Turbo Thinkers© in business, we might grapple with the fear of missing out on opportunities. What if we let go of this fear and anchored to a strategic approach that aligns with our company's core objectives? How might this shift lead to more meaningful client relationships and sustainable growth?
As we ponder these questions, we might reflect on:
1. What beliefs or habits are we holding onto that might be limiting our growth?
2. How might letting go of certain ideas or practices free us to explore new opportunities?
3. What new 'anchors' could we experiment with that align better with our goals and values?
As Turbo Thinkers©, our ability to make unique connections is our strength. How can we use this gift to identify what truly anchors us and what we can release? By identifying what to release and what to hold onto, we can harness our unique strengths while navigating the challenges of leadership and life.
What will we choose to let go of today? And what new anchor might we grasp that better serves our Turbo Thinking© minds?
