The Importance of Celebrating Your Wins

In one of my Turbo Think Tanks today, a client realized that she wanted to keep track of what she HAD accomplished, rather than beating herself up for what she had not done. By shifting to a celebration of positive progress forward, she could focus on her strengths and her secret sauce. She could build a bank of evidence, proving to her inner critic that, “Yes! I can get things done!” We call this a Ta-da list, and I find that it is just as important or even more important than a To-do list.

By looking at our Ta-da list daily, weekly and even monthly, we can build awareness of what we need to thrive and can create the space and the courage to ask for it. We can look at the data as if it were a scientific experiment and adjust the variables as needed.

  • What were my keys to success? How can I remember them to use them again when needed?

  • What strengths did I use? How can I use them in other areas of my life?

  • What were the highlights of the week? What was my role in making those things happen?

  • What was the most memorable part of the month?

  • What are the biggest lessons I learned?

  • Am I happy with how I spent my time? What needs to change? What do I keep?

  • What did I accomplish? What am I most proud of?

  • How am I different between this past month and the month before it?

  • For whom or what am I especially grateful?

When we take a little time to celebrate and marinate in our wins, we feel competent and confident. We stand a little taller, move with greater ease and step forth into a better reality. We can snap our fingers and say, “YAAASSS! I made it happen!”
