Passion and Purpose as a Turbo Thinker©

 What is important to me?

Can you take 15 minutes to write down everything in life that you value? These could be grand, abstract ideas, such as world peace. It could be small and personal, like the warm gooey sweetness of fresh pecan pie. You do not need to have these in your life right now, so it is not a gratitude list. Do you see a pattern? If you could put these into a few categories, what would those headers be? These are your core values.

When we think back to a time in our life when we were happiest, we most likely had those values present in our life. When we reflect on a very difficult time, fraught with anxiety, depression or frustration, most likely one or more of our values was being compromised. Being aware of our core values allows us to weave them into our lives.

We can then make decisions and take action with intentionality, knowing that living in alignment with our core values will give us a sense of happiness and fulfillment. Realizing that our values are unique to each individual helps us practice compassion for others, as they base their decisions on their own values and not necessarily ours.

Who am I?

Our identity is how we see ourselves and how the world sees us. The way we express our identity includes our conscious and our unconscious motivations and behavior. Creating an identity that feeds and satisfies our values allows us to achieve greater fulfillment in our life. The identity statement emerges from answering the following question: Who would you need to become in the world to live every day as a result of your core values?

I am someone who values or believes...

Why am I here?

Once we have our values and identity defined, we can create or reconnect with a clear purpose, one that will move and inspire us. It will emerge when we answer the question: Based on your identity statement and core values, what is most important to you about how you live your life on a day to day basis?

This is your purpose. What would you love more than anything to be doing, achieving, modeling, offering, sharing, encouraging, activating? A clear and compelling purpose statement will resonate when read out loud.

I am here on Earth and in the Universe to...

With a clear understanding of our purpose, we can live our life with intentionality. We can give ourselves permission to carve out the time and the space for activities that give us meaning. We can design our lives to be fully aligned with our purpose for a sense of fulfillment when we put our heads on the pillow at night. We have direction for planning and prioritizing. We can tap into our intrinsic motivation to move ourselves forward with confidence. We can step into the highest version of our most authentic self.
