Ways for Turbo Thinkers© to Tap Into Innovation
Turbo Thinkers tend to be rebels in our own way, at least in our minds. When we are given a suggestion and presented with someone else’s idea, we often reject it automatically. We can poke holes in it, think of a way to improve upon it, we can think of alternatives, we can find endless possibilities...none of which are the other person’s idea. It is as if our brain takes another person’s directions as a personal affront and a challenge. “Nope,” it says. “I don’t wanna. I’m going to do it my way and I can think of a million better ways than yours.”
This rebellious streak can be a strength. Sometimes, it helps me to wonder why I dislike something so much. If I can figure out why it feels wrong, then I can easily come up with ideas of what would feel right. If I can name everything that is wrong with your idea, then I can more easily, and more creatively, come up with my own solutions. “Ha!” my brain says, “Take that, you boring brained person!”
Of course, my innovation also stems from my personal passions. If I believe in something and want something badly enough, I will find a way to make it happen. Dogged persistence and hyper-focus are Turbo Thinker strengths too.
How can you turn on your innovative nature? How can open the door to let your creativity shine? How can you be a rebel in the best way possible?
